距離上一張錄音室專輯 16 年後，Erykah Badu 與製作人 The Alchemist 共同製作新作《Before the World Blows: The Abi and Alan Experiment》。兩人三年前透過 Badu 的長期合作者 Cold Cris 結識，隨後進錄音室展開這項被稱為「Abi and Alan Project」的計畫，相關封面專訪刊於《Crack Magazine》第 181 期。

Erykah Badu 與製作人 The Alchemist 公開合作專輯《Before the World Blows: The Abi and Alan Experiment》完整細節，8 月 28 日（週五）發行，共 16 首曲目，客座包含 Steve Lacy、Thundercat、Earl Sweatshirt、Kamasi Washington 與 Westside Gunn，專輯歷時 18 個月於達拉斯與洛杉磯錄製。
