Thom Yorke 親口坦承：〈Sail to the Moon〉是 Radiohead 錄製過的「最大噩夢」
據 Far Out Magazine 報導，Radiohead 主唱 Thom Yorke 曾公開回憶 2003 年專輯《Hail to the Thief》收錄曲〈Sail to the Moon〉的錄製過程。這首以鋼琴創作的曲子因拍號在 5、6、7 拍之間持續游移，導致樂團全員必須逐小節計拍，Yorke 直言整段錄音是「a total nightmare」（徹底的惡夢）。
拍號迷宮：為何這首歌讓樂手全程計拍
〈Sail to the Moon〉以不斷更換的拍號與層疊的和弦進行著稱，整體音色漂浮而鬆散，刻意淡化節拍感。Yorke 坦承當時根本不確定能否完成錄音，引述原話：「I never thought we’d get it off the ground because of all the counting, and the timing on it is really funny.」（我從來不覺得我們能把它錄出來，因為要數的拍子實在太多，那個時間感非常奇怪。）
儘管 Yorke 自己都難以向其他成員解釋心目中的聲音，樂團最終仍將這首歌演繹得毫不費力。他事後表示：「Everyone’s having to count all the way through…but it doesn’t really sound like that, they made it sound really effortless. So I was really happy about that, I was really proud of that.」（每個人都得從頭數到尾……但聽起來根本不像那麼回事，他們讓它聽起來非常輕盈。我為此非常高興，非常驕傲。）
